In order to open a Zaif Exchange account, you must first verify your identity.
Identity verification requires five separate registrations: "User Information," "Identity Verification Documents," "Phone Number Authentication," "Personal Identification by Mail", and "2FA."

1.Procedure For Setting Basic User Information
1-1. Go to basic user information
Click the “Account” button on the top menu and proceed to the “User information” page: “User info /ID Verification" > "User information"
1-2. Enter basic user information
Enter basic user information such as your name, (phonetic) name, date of birth, country, address, contact phone number, preferred language, etc. Click "Change".
xx Common Error xx
You can't complete identity verification or do a password reset because your apartment name, address, etc were input incorrectly.

If you forget your password, we will verify your identity before reissuing your password. After you start trading, if your basic user information has not been entered correctly, it may not be possible to reissue your password.
2.Identity Verification Documents
2-1. Go to ID Verification Documents
Click the “Account” button on the top menu and proceed to the “Personal identification documents” page: “User info /ID Verification" > "ID Verification" > "Personal identification documents"
2-2. Choose a document type
Choose acceptable identity verification documents by tab.
*Refer to "How can I submit identity verification documents?" about what documents are required.
2-3. Select files
After logging, click the "Select Files" button to select your identity verification documents that you chose in 2-2.
2-4. Upload
Press "Upload file" button.
*If you upload files with the same name, the upload will fail.
2-5. Apply to request your identity verification code by mail
After uploading all documents, press "Apply for identification check."
After successfully completing your identity verification successfully, Zaif will mail your ID verification code to you at the address you registered.
xx Common Error xx
Even though I uploaded documents, my documents were rejected for being insufficient.
Your identity verification might be rejected for the following reasons.
・Files did not upload correctly because the files have the same names.
・Omission of required documents for underage users or corporate users.
・The wrong kind of documents were uploaded.
・Document picture is unclear and information can't be confirmed.
When we cannot process identity verification successfully, we send users a message to their account's mailbox. Please refer to the message to understand why your ID verification was rejected.
3.Phone Number Authentication
3-1. Go to Phone Number Authentication
Click the “Account” button on the top menu and proceed to the “Phone Number Authentication” page: “Account” > "User info /ID Verification" > “ID Verification” > “Phone Number Authentication”
3-2. Enter your phone number
Enter your mobile phone number into “Phone Number.”

3-3. Send
After entering your phone number, press the button that says “Send.”
3-4. Enter the authentication code on the Register authentication code page
On the Register authentication code page, enter the 6-digit authentication code you received via SMS and click the “Register” button.
xx Common Error xx
I did not receive an authentication code (SMS)...
When the network is congested, it may take some time for the code to be sent. It also may not work depending on mail filter settings, or mobile phone's contract and model may not support SMS.
If you submit “Proof of Payment of Telephone Charges” for your registered phone number and then Zaif will confirm and complete the code registration process on their behalf.

*If you don't receive SMS over three days, even after modifying spam mail filter settings according to "If you do not receive an authentication code (SMS)", please send an inquiry to Zaif by following the procedure "If I don’t have a cell phone will I not be able to complete the phone number verification?".
You can also upload your documents to “Identity Verification Documents.”
4. Identity Verification By Post
4-1. Go to Mail Verification Page
Click the “Account” button on the top menu and proceed to the “Check Mail” page: "User information" > “ID Verification” > “Check Mail”
4-2. Enter the ID verification code
Enter the ID verification code you received via mail and click the “Send the identity verification code” button.
5. 2FA (Two Factor Authentication)
5-1. Go to 2FA
Click the “Account” button on the top menu and proceed to the “2FA Settings” page: "User info /ID Verification" > "security" > "2FA Settings"
5-2. Click the "Start using 2FA" button
5-3. Download a 2FA application onto your smartphone
Download a 2FA application at App Store (if you have an iPhone) or Google Play Store (in case Android). If you use our recommended application, you can setup smoothly when you upgrade to a new phone.
5-4. Scan the QR code
Scan the QR code following the instructions from the application.
5-5. Enter 2FA token code and complete initial settings
Enter the 2FA token code generated by the application into a form and you will have finished the first time set up.
A Token is 6-digit number displayed by a 2FA application. The number changes at regular intervals and you can't use the previous number once the interval has ended.
xx Common Error xx
An error message displays saying the token code cannot be confirmed...
You might have entered an incorrect token or a token code might expire while entering. Please enter a new token code again. If it happens even after trying few times, please contact us using Contact Support form.
Identity Verification is now complete!
